Last night I was lucky enough to be invited along to a blogger event held at my local store in Tunbridge Wells.
Every mother’s day the company brings out a selection of products especially for mother’s day and we were given a little preview before they went on sale.
Lush is a company close to my heart. I used to work for them a few years ago and their training is amazing. They taught me so much about ingredients and how natural, fresh cosmetics can be so beneficial to our skin. I also witnessed in my time working for them how genuinely environmentally conscious they are. They use hardly any packaging and everything is strictly recyclable.
Lush get a bit of stick from other hard core ‘green beauty’ fans as they do use preservatives in some of their products. I find this a shame, as I know the company goes really far to use other excellent natural ingredients and they genuinely do so much for the environment.
This is why the thing that most excited me at last nights event was when I was told that all of the products in this range are totally ‘self preserving’! Lush have been reformulating some of their old products to be ‘self preserving’ (as they put it) for the last few years and the choice to make their seasonal collections to be preservative free is fantastic news for those of us who would rather avoid synthetic preservatives.
Anyway… enough of that. Let me talk to you a bit more about the event.
Our host Bron started by demonstrating each of the gorgeous smelling bath bombs, bubble bars, shower gels and scrubs. I was really impressed with the gorgeous new scents and loved them all to be honest!
‘Scrubbie’ was the most popular products amongst the group. A solid bumblebee shaped block of coco butter containing ground almonds, honey and ground coconut shell, it leaves your skin exfoliated and silky smooth.
‘Yummy mummy’ was one of my personal favourites. A sweetly scented purple shower gel with uplifting geranium and orange oils…I may have to go back purchase this one for myself!
I tried the new Baa Bar bubble bath before bed last night and it was heavenly. It’s a cute sheep shape infused with some of my favourite essential oils of clove, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang and violet. If you used to love palma violets as a child you’ll like this one! If you want to check out the new range all of the products are in stores and online now.
We also got to make out own little product to take home at the event, Lush’s classic cleanser ‘Angels on bar skin’ which shows you how simple the ingredients are for Lush’s fresh facemask and cleansers.
Each member of the group took it in turns to add various things into the mixing bowl like kaolin, ground almonds and dried lavender. We gave it a good mix then it was rolled into a huge sausage shape and cut up to share amongst us. It was just the thing I needed to be honest as my skin has been extremely dry this week.
Thank you for putting on a great event Lush Tunbridge Wells I will definitely be back again soon!
